The Dead Is Alive . . .

The Dead Is Alive .

The true story of Jake Rosso. The popular artist is in an island in Scotland.

Today a young girl and her mother came with a really amazing story. She said " Jake Rosso" is alive and he lives in Scotland in a lost and very old island. He lives with his family, his mother, father , a brother and his wife.

The name of the young girl is Carol Sanders, she and her mother live in London now. In her story Jake Rosso took drugs and was an alcoholic. He decided to run away out of the country and forget his past after killing a girl with his car (a night). (While he was drug and) Then he decided buy a lost island and went there with his family. He faked an accident. He faked his death. He “killed” Jake Rosso.

She had photos of him. The police were looking at the pictures searching for the truth. Is she lying ? Is she saying the truth ? The police are searching the island and trying to find the mysterious Jake Rosso. In a few days we will have more news about this amazing story.

Jake Rosso is not dead!

Yesterday morning, Carol Sanders confessed having seen and talked to Jake Rosso, the famous singer. Apparently, she and her mother were working with him a year ago, in his private island in Scotland without knowing this dramatic situation. Carol began doubting when she noticed that Jake Rosso, who used to be called “James Ross”, had a locked room in his house. Her mother says she is like a detective, and always wants to know everything and that’s the reason why she discovered that room.
After a little investigation, she entered there and found posters and guitars. As quickly as she could, she faced the fact and asked James (or Jack) about that episode. Firstly he didn’t recognize it, but then Carol forced him to tell the truth, but he begged her to keep quiet.

Now she is brave and can tell us everything. Here you can read a part of the report about it:

Interviewer: -Why didn’t you like Jake at all?
Carol: -I knew he was hiding something from the beginning, because he didn’t like visitors, nor photographs, and wanted his island to be away from everything. Moreover he had a locked room at the end of a corridor.
I: -Why does Jack hide in this island?
C: -He told me he took drugs and alcohol, and one night (totally drunk), while he was driving his car, he hit a young girl and killed her.
I: -Oh no! And what happened then?
C: So he decided to “kill Jake Rosso” and start a new life as an investor in a remote place where nobody could find him. Only his family knew it. But I think it’s time to face the truth! He was my idol and I can’t lie about him!
I: Don’t you know how he committed suicide?
C: I know he put some of his things into the car, then pushed it down a cliff and burned it. So the police would think he was dead.
I: Oh my God... That’s terrible!
C: I know… but there’s a possibility to Jake to talk about the incident, maybe people can forgive him, maybe not…

An Amazing Country: Brazil

An amazing country: Brazil

Brazil is the biggest country of South America. It’s limited by all the countries of South America except Chile and Equator. It’s climate is tempered, and its fauna, ample. The basic currency is the real (one) introduced in 1994 July.

The cities

The capital of Brazil is Brasilia, and some of the most important cities are Rio de Janeiro, Sao Pablo, Florianopolis, Camboriu and Buzios. They are important because they are the most interesting tourist places .
In Brazil, several attractions can be found: The Carnival celebration is in Rio de Janeiro, also (is) the famous Redentor Christ which you can visit.

“The Redentor Christ”

“Brazil’s Carnival”

The People

The Brazilian population is composed mainly by groups that live in Northern regions and the west on the territory, descendants of Portuguese who began to colonize the country from the century XVI, of African who (they) were brought like slaves and some immigrants of Europe and Asia.
Around 39 per cent of the population is racially mixed, fundamentally of European, black and very little of Chinese origin.

The government

Brazil is a constitutional republic, with 26 federal districts, which have their own popular elections, legislatures and governments. The presidential period is of five years.

The official language is (the) Portuguese, although the Brazilian(s) have incorporated to their language words and phrases of other languages like (the) Italian and German.

The landscape

The vegetation in Brazil is very diverse, particularly in the Amazon.
Also Brazil is well known by its beautiful beaches. The Brazilian coast has regular lines, although it has some excellent bays.
Then the amazonian zone where the forest is, occupies more of the third part of the country, hundreds of species of plants are in this region.
In the most barren zones, cactus and other plants are common (in those territories).

The Wildlife

The wildlife is also extremely varied, fauna that includes pumas, jaguars, ocelotes, vixens, armadillos; monkeys and many more otherspecies. Many varieties of birds are native of Brazil and the fauna reptile includes many species of serpents and boas.In the rivers, lakes and marine coasts of Brazil different varieties of fish and turtles abound.

Final Comment

We chose Brazil because we like the country, and its wildlife, and the landscapes are amazing.
We thought it was going to be more interesting to investigate a country, instead of one of the seven wonders, because there’s so much more to say about a country, with its history and people and places.

“The Hanging Gardens of Babylonia”

This marvel was situated in the antique Babylonia, actual Iraqi territory, at the border of the Euphrates River, Asian continent.
About the sixth century before Christ, Nabucodonosor, who was the king of the city, constructed the “Hanging Gardens”. In year 539 B.C., the Persians conquered Babylonia and it caused its decay. When Alexander Magno visited the city, part of it was in ruins, and it definitive destruction was in 126 B. C., when Evemero conquered the city and set it on fire. Since then, there have been only ruins in this place.
Probably, the biggest characteristic is that the hanging gardens didn’t hang literally. The name comes from a wrong translation of a Greek word that really means to stand out as a balcony or a terrace. These gardens, which were full of vegetation and flowers today is a symbol of history and culture.
In the city everything is too level, too rectilinear: if we get high enough, we will see all the city at one sight.
Nabucodonosor’s wife, Amytis, who grew up in a luxurious place, was homesick, so the king decided to build a series of terraces planting some trees there. With just a short time, these overflowed with vegetation even described from outside the double walls of Babylonia. Nabucodonosor has been able to create a mount covered with exuberant vegetation.
We chose this marvel because we think it is really interesting, wonderful and amazing. It has a strange cause of creation, that astonished us. We think this theme is more interesting than the cities, and you can
explain much more.

Egypt

Egipto is a country of Africa. His capital is Cairo. It is one of the most populous countries of Africa. It has more than 15 millions inhabitants. The majority of the population is in the banks of the river Nile and in the Delta where there is the unique zone of fertile land. The half of the residents in Egypt they live in urban areas, especially in the centers densely filled with Cairo, Alexandria and of other important cities. The climate in Egypt is characterized in general for being very warm in summer and moderated in winter.
Egypt is famous for his ancient civilization and his monuments, as the pyramids and the great sphinx. Egypt is a political and cultural important center of the Near East. The Arabic is the official language of the country. The current currency is the libra.
The religion was very important for the ancient Egyptians. They were polytheistic. They believed in more than 700 gods and different goddesses. Some importants gods were: Anubis, Isis, Horus, Amón. The pyramids served as tombs for the Egyptians. Giza's Great Pyramid, constructed by Keops, is one of seven Marvels of the Ancient World.
Tutankamon was a young Pharaoh that died at the age of 19. People say that they killed it with a blow to the head. Rumors say that every person that they enter to the place of his tomb, they die to a little time of strange illness.

We chose Egypt because his history is very interesting, their gods and godsess, piramids and his sphinx.

A wonderful Wonder

The Colosseum or Coliseum, originally the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an eliptical Amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire. It is one of the greatest works of Roman architecture. Originally capable of seating around 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles It remained in use for nearly 500 years with the last recorded games being held there as late as the 6th century.the Colosseum has long been seen as an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome. It is one of modern Rome's most popular tourist attractions and still has close connections with the Roman Catholic Church, the Pope leading a torchlit Way of the cross" precession to the amphitheatre each Good Friday.
Its construction started between
70 and 72 AD under the emperor Vespasian.
We chose The Coliseum because this is very beautiful and we like it very much, our great-grandfathers were from Italia, so we feel identified.

Our trip to Cuba

We're Aldana, Bianca and Johanna. We're eighteen years old. We've finished college two months ago and decided to travel to Cuba because we were interested in its culture and we're best friends and we're happy to have this trip together.
We arrived at the airport by train. We waited for the flight for two hours. Finally we got on the plane. The flight took three hours and it was really good. We thought it would be terrible, because we were very scared- it was our first flight- but we enjoyed it. We landed at Guane's airport. There, we looked for the activities coordinator. He was late so we had to wait at the airport for half an hour. He took us to the hotel by mini bus. We were glad to see that the hotel was wonderful. Our room was big and very comfortable. We left the luggage in the room and started the activities.
First of all we had to get a map so we could find out how to get to the different places. The first day we went by bike to Pinar Del Rio. There we did some physical activities, we had a really good time!
The second day we travelled by boat to Nueva Gerona. There we visited some museums. It was interesting.
The third day a truck picked us up, and we went to Saint Cristobal. When we arrived there we went to a big zoo, and then we visited a park for exotic birds.
The last day we went to a big shopping centre in Cuba's Capital, Havana. It was a shopping tour. It was useful because everything was cheaper there. We arrived there by taxi.
We had four great days full of fun. We weren't happy to come back, it's beautiful there, but we missed our families.

In Cuba with Fidel...

Two years ago I went to Cuba to a conference of science. Cuba is a
little island in Central America.

I went by aeroplane, but the trip was long. I read a book about Fidel
Castro on the aeroplane and I slept a lot. The food was really horrible.
First of all, when I arrived in the Habana, the capital of Cuba, I
decided to visit a museum, so I rented a bicycle. In the museum there were
a lot of marvels.
The next day I went to Caiman, an island near Cuba, by ship. But this
was very boring, so I went to another island, Jamaica, this time by boat.
This was very strange, a lot of people smoked pot, so I returned to Cuba.
Cuba is a beautiful country and the girls too. The weather is so hot.
Then I had to work, I went to the conference of science by taxi.
And the next day, I returned to my country, by plane.

A trip to Central America

We are Gimena, Florencia and Julieta, three sociologists that are studying undernourished children in Central America. So, we went through different countries to feel what it is like.
Our journey started when we took a taxi to the airport, just in time to take the flight to Panama Canal. That was our fist stop. The plane took off at six o’clock in the morning and landed at half past twelve at midday of the same day. Two hours later we crossed the Panama Canal by boat and stayed in a hotel four days.
There, we took a train to San José (Costa Rica) and studied the economy of that country. After a week, we went to El Salvador –backed by the government- by helicopter. Finished our job in El Salvador, we followed with Honduras by coach, and it was very exciting! It’s an amazing country, full of history and incredible landscapes. We could travel by donkey through the hills, which was an unforgettable experience. We stayed there five days in the house of Florencia’s aunt. After those days, Florencia’s cousin offered to take us to Guatemala, and it was so strange! The journey took about twenty hours; we promise we are not going to do it again… it was really exhausting!
Once in Guatemala, we stopped studying, and started to enjoy the trip. Then, we went to Cuba by ship, and stayed there three days.
And it was time to return home… so we went to Panama by ship, and there we took a plane to Argentina (so sad).
It was a great experience, and now we are studying the tour, let’s see what it results!

Dear Martin

Friday 31st February
Dear Martin:
Thanks for your letter. Well I’ m here in No One Place; I arrived last night at 25:30 pm. Believe it: this wasn’ t a normal journey, but was fun.

I took the F.F Full Fast train. In the sleeping compartment, I travelled with an old man. He had an enormous nose. When he went to the train bar he tripped and after that he got up very quickly and he waked on.
I started laughing. He told me” Stop laugh. Isn’t funny when it’s you who is falling”. I didn’t see him after that. He just disappeared from the train.

I called the lady who comes with the food. She got me a hot chocolate but it was blue. I went to sleep after that. I dreamed with a little elephant with milk and chocolate inside it body. He was swimming in the ocean. Even rarer was that the elephant talked to me in French!!! I called him Marshall. It was a good dancer too. It was a great dream. When I woke up I believe I saw Marshall trut the windows. But it wasn’t reality.

Make sure to write me.

Pilar.

Dear Samantha

Thursday 10th June

Dear Samantha:
I’m writing from Ireland, at last! I had a crazy journey. First when I arrived at port to take my ship, I released, I had forgotten my passport but luckily in the computer there was the information about the passport which I had taken before and the company let me travel. You know that the journey took two weeks; but you don’t know that in the first week I had to shower with freezing water. It was horrible!
Besides that, the captain ordered the waiters to serve the dinner. The menu was fish and chips, but the fish was out of shape and everybody came sick!
Well, I don’t know how many other things happened on trip, but I’m alive and in Ireland.

Kisses and write me soon,
Mary

Dear Alex

April 28 th
Dear Alex:
Hello how are you?

First of all, the other boy in the sleeping compartment was very nice and beautiful. When he climbed up to go to sleep, he stepped over me and he excused himself, a sweet. His name is Tom. Then in the morning, when he woke up, he talked with me and told me about his life, after that we had breakfast together.

At 15:30 the train broke down “oh no”! I must tell my friend. “ But my phone didn’t have battery and Tom lent me his mobile phone. I phoned my friend and told her about the delay.
I finally went to B A. but guess what? Today when I started the classes I saw Tom in another course.
So wonderful. Tomorrow I will come back.
I will tell you everything !!!

BYE BYE AND GOOD LUCK!!

Dear Paula

Dear Paula:
I arrived last week in Egypt. It’s really great! The journey was so funny... I met a nice boy called Cristobal, he’s from Brazil and works in the beach.
After two hours of travel, some turbulences satrted to frighten us, but Cristobal’s hand gave me peace and he took my hand strongly. I just closed my eyes and when I opened them everything had finished. Suddenly we heard that there were available seats in first class, so we went to the cabin and found out about it. Cristobal offered me to go, and we had a great time together.
Cristobal is staying in ‘Cleopatra Hotel’, and I’m there too. We made a lot of activities together. I’m telling you what we did:
The first day we went on a tour to the Sahara Desert, and visited the pyramids. Inside we saw a lot of magnific hieroglyfhics and papyrus.
The next day, we went across the desert riding a camell; it was a fantastic experience! Every night we go to the disco and meet new people.
Well, the tourist guide is calling us, because it’s dinner time.
I hope you’ll be OK, and I’m sending you a photo from the desert.

Hugs and Kisses for you and your family
Valentina.

Hi Franco!

Dear Franco:
Hello, I am here in Paraguay. I arrived this afternoon at half past five. Now I am drinking mate and a little of water fell on the paper. The journey took sixteen hours. At the beginning it was very boring, so I decided to sleep. Four hours later I woke up because something strange happened.
The route was very badly kept and the driver was drunk so the bus fell on the middle of the road and everybody got hurt. Luckily somebody had a cell phone and called for an ambulance and the police.
After that I stayed at a bus station 30 minutes, because we were close to the city, and later I was interviewed for the Channel 8 News. When I finished I went out and took the next bus.
I am starting my holidays so I am going to sleep all I want.
Write soon!!!

Dear Caroline

Dear Caroline:

I’m glad to tell you I’ve arrived in France in one piece, but the journey was a complete disaster. First of all, when I arrived at the bus station, my luggage got lost. When I finally found it, I got on the bus. In the middle of the journey I needed to take something from my bag, when I opened it, I angrily saw, it was empty, my belongings were stolen, I didn’t know what to do but luckily, when I got to my destination, the bus station personal told me that I took the wrong bag.
Then I went to my hotel and, guess what? My room wasn’t empty like my luggage; there were two people in my bed, so I started to run to talk with somebody, but nobody gave me and answer. I was too angry; I took my bag and the first bus to come back to my country, Spain.
So I will see you soon.

Romeo and Juliet

April,20th
Dear Juliet,
Hi! How are you? I´m in London. I arrived last Monday. The journey was very funny because I met a boy who told me about his life and gave me his telephone number.
When I arrived at the airport, I realized that the travel company lost my luggage, so I phoned a friend and told him that I was going to be late.
After that, I arrived at my friend´s house and they told me that the company phoned to say that they found the luggage. All this was hard luck!

Well, See you next week.
A kiss!
